Some Service Packs / Updates not showing on Machines

  • Hi there,

Any reason why a machine that has Vista Service Pack 1 is not showing as requiring Service Pack two.

They are in a policy where SP2 is approved for Vista yet these machines don't even show as needing it.

Is there anything I can do to give it a kick in the rear and get it to realise that yes I am sp1 and yes I do need sp2.

I have seen this before for other patches too.

    Any thoughts.

  • General troubleshing -> If you run Windows Updates on the machine, does it show SP2 as missing?

If Windows Updates does not show the patch as missing, you will need to troubleshoot that. Might be that someone installed one the Registry changes that blocks SPs from installing.

  • Did you ever work this out?

We just went ahead and approved Server 2008 SP2 for release onto our test servers, but none are showing it as a missing patch.

Definately haven't deployed any blocking scripts, and can't run windows update on the machines as we have it disabled

    Cheers
