Setting alert on service stopping

This question is not answered

We are having an issue where a services on one of our servers stops randomly.  I would like to monitor this by creating an alert that will email me when that service stops.  I thought I could figure it out but apparently I am missing something.

The service I am working with is a custom service for Apache Tomcat.  Below is the event log information when the service stops:

Log Name:      System
Source:        Service Control Manager
Date:          3/12/2013 10:06:05 AM
Event ID:      7036
Task Category: None
Level:         Information
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      OmegaWMS.domain.com
The Apache Tomcat 5.5 Tomcat5 service entered the stopped state.
Event Xml:
<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
    <Provider Name="Service Control Manager" Guid="{555908d1-a6d7-4695-8e1e-26931d2012f4}" EventSourceName="Service Control Manager" />
    <EventID Qualifiers="16384">7036</EventID>
    <TimeCreated SystemTime="2013-03-12T15:06:05.315799300Z" />
    <Correlation />
    <Execution ProcessID="556" ThreadID="3640" />
    <Security />
    <Data Name="param1">Apache Tomcat 5.5 Tomcat5</Data>
    <Data Name="param2">stopped</Data>

I tried setting up an alert by creating a new event call Tomcat.  For that even, I used Service Control manager for the Source Filter, 7036 for the Event ID and *Tomcat* for the Description Filter.  I setup the new event for Information and set it to email me and create an alarm.  Unfortunately when I stop the service I do not get any email notification.

Any help or direction would be greatly apprciated.

    Did you try to create a Quick Monitorset through KLC-TaskManager - Services - Click on the icon - add Quickset

    My suspicion is that you mispelled the name of the service;  When ready you can find the QuickSet monitorsets in MonitorSets - QuickSets

  • Did this work?

  • That's so cool!
