AVG Virus Defs V7

  • Weare looking to check the defs for AVG 7. I can't find any way of pulling the defs from a file or the registry.

Does anyone know how to pull the defs out or maybe have a script to do it?

    Thanks in advance.

  • There is a file in theC:\ Program Files\Grisoft\AVG folder called incavi.avm. The timestamp on this file is the virus definition date. You can get the timestamp through kaseya to seewhether the Virus defs are up to date.

  • Another option that I use is to read the AVG7.log file. It's located in the c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Grisoft\Avg7Data\ directory. I read this file and look for the "@Avg_UpdateSucceeded" entry and pull the date/time stamp from that entry.

  • Hi Bill,

Be interested to know how do you pull the date and time info?

  • Ray,

I search the AVG7.log file for the last entry of "@Avg_UpdateSucceeded". It has a format like the following:

    31-12-2006 08:45:07 00002848 "@UpdFinishRun_Start"

    31-12-2006 08:45:40 00002848 "FinishUpdate @Avg_UpdateSucceeded."

I then just grab the 1st 10 characters and reformat the date to mm/dd/yyyy.

  • When you say you 'Grab' the 1st 10 characters how are you doing that? With VB?

  • I'm a little new to Kaseya. I tried to import the script but it is not working. Is there something that I need to change in the script to get this to work?
