When new agents are installed, they inherit the latest audit, patch scan, automatic update and agent procedures that are assigned to the template agent. This is great to avoid having to manually schedule those tasks everytime a new system is installed. The issue we're running into is they do not inherit the randomization or distribution window that was originally scheduled for the template.
For example, we schedule the latest audit to run every day at 9:00 am with a 7 hr distribution window. Every new agent we install inherits this schedule, but they don't pick a random time in that 7 hr window, but rather all schedule for 9:00 am. If we don't manually go in and reschedule the new agents, they'll all fire off at 9:00 am.
Is there anyway to keep the distribution window / randomization in the schedule?
I use policies for this and assign the audits to that. This way they inherit the window assigned there.
