Start a Initial Update with a Policy

This question is not answered

How can I start an initial Update with a Policy?

What I want to do is:

1) Unpack a new PC

2) Install a specific Kaseya Agent

3) Automatic install of all Windows Updates (with LanCache)

4) Automatic Install some other Tools with Agent Procedures

5) Uninstall the Kaseya Agent

Everything works fine, only the initial update I must start manually.

Is there a way to automate this?

  • Initial Update cannot be configured via Policy.  However, you could configure Automatic Update to run and set the Reboot Action to "Reboot Immediately".  This would perform quite similarly to Initial Update since the patches will install and reboot as necessary without requiring user interaction.  Install order will be different, but the end result is about the same.

  • I've come to the conclusion that Kaseya Patching is really suited for scheduled operations. It's not great for on-demand.

I've spent some time developing a few Agent Procedures that uses a Powershell module to run Windows Updates on demand. That works really well for me.
  • Hi Lothario, can your share us your Agent Procedures?

    Thanks Richard

  • Sure, give me a day or two...
