Installation of KES MS Exchange server component using Security > MS Exchange > Install/Remove fails.




1) Log onto the Exchange server and check in Add/Remove Programs if AVG for Exchange is installed - uninstall it if present

2) Attempt to restart the Exchange Store service: -
- Start > Run > services.msc
- find "Microsoft Exchange Information Store", right click on it and select Restart
- check also if you are able to Stop and Start it again

(if you are unable to stop and start the service, the issue is with Exchange not KES / AVG - use Microsoft support resources to troubleshoot further)

3) Assuming that you have no problems restarting the service, stop the service and attempt to install the KES Exchange component again


If the install still fails, create a support ticket and include the following information: -

1) A zip containing the following log files: -
- Go to Start menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administration tools -> Event Viewer -> Select an event log -> Action menu -> Save event log as ...*.evt. (save logs from Application protocol and System protocol and add them to the zip)
- setup.log from Windows temp directory
- all files in the c:\avg4ex2k\log directory

2) Machine ID of Exchange server

3) Outcome of the above troubleshooting steps
