AVG breaks Citrix

  • With the help of a Kaseya user, a bug has been identified when AVG is installed on Citrix boxes.

The KES/AVG install DELETE the following registry entries, which are configured when Citrix is installed and are necessary to make Citrix dual-screen functionality (and clipboard mapping, probably other features too) work correctly:

    [HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
    "AppInit DLLs"="mfaphook.dll"
    "LoadAppInit DLLs"=dword:00000001

A bug has been logged at AVG and they are working on a fix to check why this key is being modified.

The interim fix is to manually add the above registry back.

  • Hi Ernie,

thank you very much for your post. I ran exactly into this issue. The System is a Windows Server 2008 R2 with Xenapp 6.0 and after i installed AVG, Clipboard & Smartcard Redirection was not working anymore. I did than the recover of this Registry key and after a reboot everything was fine again. But this does not happen more than 2 years after you Post. Whats going on with AVG and this Key?

    Thanks again.
