I have a single PC in an entire machine group that is experincing a new problem of "Write Failure".

Every backup has been successful for this machine except for the last 3 days...

Every other machine in the group is able to backup up fine.

All the machines are on a Lan with no wireless...they backup to an external USB hard drive. Both the backup drive and the connected server have USB 2.0

Machine Specs:

-Dell Dimension 4550 Mini Tower

Proc= 1999 MHz Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz, Model 2 Stepping 4

OS = XP Professional Edition Service Pack 3 Build 2600

Nic:

Ethernet - Enabled

Intel Pro 100 VE Network Connection

Ram:

256 MB DIMM_A SDRAM Synchronous 266 MHz

512 MB DIMM_B SDRAM Synchronous 266 MHz

Total=767MB

HD: C:Fixed NTFS Free 25.4GB Used 12.7GB Total 38.1GB

Everytime i try to backup, i recieve the following error log:

Write error (0x70004) Tag = 0x82DB9339B70C3AFE Error writing the file. (0x40003) function = "WriteFileNoCache" Tag = 0x7CEB2CDC9FB1216B The semaphore timeout period has expired. (0xFFF0) code = FFFFFFFF80070079 Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB816[/B]" />

**I have the full error log attached.

I have found One old thread on here related to this problem: http://community.kaseya.com/xsp/f/93/t/3577.aspx - This thread is closed and can no longer be posted to.

There is very little help from google in researching this subject...However, i did find an article that was somewhat helpful but the registry keys listed in the article were not existent on this machine. - http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=475&context=SSKTWP&q=Semaphores+and+Semaphore+Timeouts&uid=swg21094630&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en

Also, Recently, if its related, i have been recieving this error in the event logs also:

Disk Event ID[COLOR=#003399]11
N/A The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\D.

-Any Ideas would be great Big Smile Thanx
