Mapped Drives

  • I am trying to backup a mapped drive on our server and am getting and error saying

"Backup failed - No files to backup. - Path not found or administrator does not have rights to the path - y:\marketing"

Is it possible to backup a mapped drive? or did I do something wrong?

Our file server si a Unix file server so installing an angent is not an option in this case.

    Thanks

  • Are you using the K backup to do this? Keep in mind that from within Windows you do not get mapped drives unless you are logged in. Had this kind of problem a while back when we used one server to host our external backup HDD and the main file server to perform the actual backup. Aside from a few other problems such as performance, if the fileserver was not logged into a user with that drive mapped when the backup was to be performed then it would fail because it could not find the file path.

    Hope that helps.

  • Yep...that helps. Though its not practical to leave a user logged in.

Guess another feature request to be able to back up UNC paths!

UNC backup paths work great in Kaseya/Acronis, always have.

  • Nope! when i try it says illegal path. Must be local drive.

So that would be a no for UNC paths.
