Anyone else been having issues with search in Outlook 2016 since the latest round of patches (or so)? Keep getting "Something went wrong and your search could not be completed" errors. Reindexing (including completely deleting Windows Search cache) doesn't fix. Not having any luck resolving.
Having same issues with some of our customers. Not been able to fix this at the Moment. Hope to find a solution soon.
I have it resolved now. It's apparently an issue with Outlook 2016 versions 12730.20250 & 12730.20236 (you can view version at file, office account) You need to run 12624.20466 to fix.
Run as Admin from Run or Command Prompt:
"%programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12624.20466
Go to Services, Stop Windows Search, then set to Disabled.
Delete the folder c:\programdata\microsoft\search\data (has 2 folders inside of that, want to delete the entire data folder and everything in it)
Go to Services, set Windows Search back to Automatic and Start.
Open Outlook, go to File, Options, Search,, Advanced and Rebuild Index.
It will take ~20 min (perhaps less) to get back to fully working.
