Problems with latest Junk Email Filter update

  • I'm talking about ODT-P-OLKFTR:36:0 Q936677 Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB936677).

    This patch is failing on almost every machine! This is across many customers and I can't figure out why.

    Is anyone else experiencing this?

  • Yup, a customer of ours reported the same problem on multiple machines earlier today.

  • I'm just now beginning to use these forums. Does Kaseya monitor these? Or should I just open a support ticket with them regarding this?

  • Same here. ;936677]Q936677 has failed on EVERY machine it's applied to (everything with Outlook 2003 on it) - what a PITA.

    Anyone know what gives?

  • I called and talked to a tech at Kaseya. They said it is an issue with the pacth itself and If you were try and install it manually it will fail as well.

  • I just went to Microsoft Update, selected ONLY 936677, it installed without issue on a system that the Kaseya 936677 was failing on.



    Still haven't heard back from support. Getting rather frustrated.

  • I would call them its alot faster.

    They don't seem to care or monitor the forum. Just an observation.

  • Here's the response I just received on the ticket I opened with them:

    This issue arose after Microsoft released Office SP3:

    WARNING: This warning is for any machine that installs KB936677 (Outlook 2003 Junk E-mail Filter update: September 2007). After installing Office 2003 SP3, the Office Detection Tool (ODT) will incorrectly report that this update (KB936677) has not been installed. Even after manually successfully installing this update, the ODT scan still reports the update as missing. This is a problem in the scan logic of Microsoft's ODT. We have no control over this.

  • I received the same response last Wednesday. I can't access the link, though. Which group does that link to? I downloaded the patch and ran it manually. It fails.

    I guess I'll unapprove that patch to avoid all the reboots and failed patch installs, but I don't like it!
