June Microsoft Updates Break Office 2013

  • Not a Kaseya problem, but I wanted to pass along a warning.  There are a lot of people reporting that June updates break Office 2013.  No Office Apps will open and the repair function will not work.  It might be a good idea to hold off on pushing Office updates until it's worked out.

  • Anyone have any details on which patches seem to be causing this?  I've found the follow ones were released this week for Office 2013 and have blocked them temporarily in our VSA and will start digging on where they may have already been installed, but just curious if anyone out there has more details yet?

  • I haven't been able to find any official info on this issue, however, we did have 3 user experience this.  We denied all the above updates until more info is available

  • My R&D into this was denied so I hope you guys can use this information;

    I have found a MSDN article on how to detect if Outlook 2013 was installed via the Click-to-Run method, I suspect the same method can be used to detect complete Office 2013 installs.

  • I had two users experience this as well. Had to run the FixIt to completely remove the item and then had to reinstall.

    There is an official blog post here:
