Scan error - Operating system not determined

  • I've seen several machines which are reporting - Scan error - Operating system not determined. BUt when I view the machine info, the proper O/S is displayed. Where is the disconnect here?

  • Take a look at the KB Article http://portal.knowledgebase.net/display/2/articleDirect/index.asp?aid=272394&r=0.9866907 this has resolved this problem for me on every occasion I have seen this problem.

    If it does nto work, just search the KB for the text "Scan error - Operating system not determined", or for article "272394".

  • Sorry that the link didnt work, sometimes copying url's from the Knowledge base does appear to give problems.

    As lwolf says search for 'Scan error - Operating system not determined' in the KB and youy will find the resolution. Basically rename a registry key (or delete it) this willforce the key to be regenerated and the scan willthen work.
