Running VBS Scripts on machines without Admin privileges

  • We have a ton of scripts that are written to install IP Printers for a large organization. This company has just recently removed all admin rights on local workstations, which in turn is now causing our scripts to fail. When I add users back to the local admins, they work fine. The Kaseya script writes the VBS file to the Kaseya temp folder then runs it. I have also tried putting the file directly to the root of C:\ but that didn't work either. I am asuming the problem is permissions, but is there a way to run the script as admin? I tried running as system but that didn't work either.

  • Try the Use Credential script step. This will use the creds set in Agent-->Set Credential to execute subsequent steps.

  • Alternatively, you can specify a user to runas in a VBS script.

This requires a plain-text password, so use a VBS->EXE app before deploying.
