Script to install telnet client on Vista/Server2008

  • Hi all, I've often had to install the telnet client onto Vista and Server 2008 machines, got sick of doing that so here is the script I've just written to do it for me:
Script Name: Install Telnet client on Server 2008 or Vista
Script Description: Install Telnet client on Vista or Server 2008

    IF True
    THEN
    Execute Shell Command
    Parameter 1 : pkgmgr /iu:"TelnetClient"
    Parameter 2 : 1
    OS Type : 13
    ELSE

Hope that saves someone else some stuffing about.

    Ben.

  • Thanks for this, just wanted to also mention it works on Windows 7 with default UAC control settings.

  • Hi

I just want to use this script for all my clients. I wrote as this in Kaseya as a procedure:

    If true

executeShellCommand("pkgmgr /iu:"TelnetClient" " , "Execute as User" , "All Operating System" , "Halt on Fail")

Just one thing, I want to schedule this script to all my servers to run this script for their clients

    Does the script parameterized properly?

    Thanks

  • You want to execute as system - as user means it will fail if nobody is logged in or a no administrator is logged in or it's a terminal server. Also change all operating system to whatever os you're targeting.

  • Thanks Craig

  • There is a script for use and reference as well in the Automation exchange as well:
