Timeout for running scripts?

  • Hi,

Seeing as script execution is one at a time and in a queue, is there a way to enable a failed script timeout?

If a script goes wrong, you cant even run task manager via K to kill the remote process.

I've not had any luck with canceling pending scripts, this doesn't seem to work.

Anything on the agenda for a script timeout?

2 hours would be a fair timeout, I cant foresee any scripts running that long.

    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • I thought there was already a 2 hour script timeout. We're seeing that with our scripts.

  • I'm not, there were scheduled scripts due to run yesterday, but were still not complete today.

  • There definetly was a 2 hour limit on scripts. We had support make a change in our database to have it at 4 hours for some longer scripts we run.

  • Sometimes I find that an agent will hang and not process a script.

i just goto the pending scripts page for the particular computer, select the checkbox onthe script thats hung (pending scripts are highlighed in yellow) and then hit the cancel button.

The result is instant as it doesnt need confirmation fromt he client.
