Scheduling a script forces an immeidate run????

  • I just scheduled a server to reboot every morning at 5 AM.

When I hit the SCHEDULE button -- the server REBOOTED!@! the client was NOT happy.

Is this normal that scheduling a reboot would also RUN THE SCRIPT when initially submitted?

  • Did you remember to change the date? If not, it's 1st scheduled run time would be 5:00AM this morning (in the past), so it would run immediately.

  • Also be sure to use the skip if offline option. Otherwise if internet is down at 5am and it comes back online at 9am the server will restart then. Users don't like that either.

  • Also, it appears that all patches causes reboots, whether the patch needs it or not.

Yeah, been there, done that, had to answer angry phone calls Sad

  • Hi

Yeah.. I have the t-shirt also...

Be sure and ALWAYS check the skip if off line box... The first time that a bunch of reboot scripts do not run because your server or Internet connection is down and the scripts run when kaseya comes back online in the middle of the day.... (which, if the box is not checked runs all of the scripts when the agents start checking in!!)

Patches not requiring reboots shouldn't cause a reboot.

Reboot action for most agents are still "reboot immediately", as most patching occurs around midnight-ish.

But, lesson learn. No patching in the middle of the day, even if the patch looks harmless Smile
