  • When i rebooted i got an error message about windows defender. Looks like you will also need to delete the windows defender entry in the registry

    (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run)

As always, please backup your registry before running on your test machine Big Smile

  • thanks i'll give it a try, i assume you tested it yourself?

EDIT: actually... i don't think that .reg file will work...

looking in CCleaner I can't see a Windows Defender entry, which it should as all you are reffering to in the .reg file is HKLM:Run (how CCleaner displays it)...

can you confirm you testing this on Vista?

  • By default windows defender is in the startup, in this case the registry key i gave you. Is it possible you removed it with msconfig?

I have only tested this on my workstation, and it worked for me. I am running vista business.
