Disable Reboot/Shutdown Temporarily

  • Has anyone thought up a way to temporarily block reboots/shutdowns? The best I could come up with would be to watch for shutdown events and then just run "shutdown /a". But this almost never works; You would have to catch the shutdown during the timeout period. Is there any temporary way of disabling shutdown/reboots? I've hit a few situations where a script is running or we're FTP'ing files to the PC only to have the user shut down because they ignored our message telling them about maintenance.

  • I'm not aware of a way to do this that doesn't require a log off or reboot to make the change take effect.
