Windows Directory

  • I have some windows 2000 clients that were originally upgraded from NT. The windows folder is named WINNT. This is causing a problem when running the script for WDC (Windows Disk Cleanup)

Is there a way to extract a variable from the registry to point to this folder?

  • To answer my own question....

use %systemroot% instead of c:\windows in the scripts.

  • I personnally always use %windir%. To get a complete list of all the environment variables on your system, open a command shell and type SET. You can use any of the names listed in a script by surrounding the name with % characters on each end.
