  • If you can get around the "no command line" aspect of Windows 2000 Defrag that would be amazing!

But I'd not put anything past you Big Smile.

Here is a defrag script it works on 2k and XP Ive tested on both. Its not silent but it will run a defrag analyze it and defrag if you have less then 15% disk space it will stop and halt. But if it runs it will close it self automatically. If you know vbs well I pretty sure you can find a way around the windows pop up of 15%. But as always time is money. Good luck and have fun with the script.

  • Has any tried www.dirms.com? - it provides a command-line defrag for 2000.

Forchkdsk, a rebootwould most likely berequired and here is the reg key that is modified when chkdsk /f is executed manually.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\BootExecute]

And if your rebooting, might as well run PageDefrag from SysInternals...

  • Hello,

Do you think you can send me the script to load into Kaseya? I have tried to copy some of the other scripts in Kaseya but I can't get this to work.

    Thanks,

    Abner

Here is a defrag script that has been working for me.

It calls for a batch file because of the DOS output command ">" did not want to run in the script

    The batch file contains this

    %systemroot%\system32\defrag.exe -v c: >c:\temp\delog.txt
