What the heck does "persist variables after read" mean?

This question has suggested answer(s)

I'm trying to use some global:universal variables, and am getting wildly variable results.  For one, this capability is pretty poorly documented.  For another, the "persist..." checkbox isn't documented at all.  What does it do?  Retain the variable lookups into child procedures?  It's not even clear to me what it could be used for.  Any clues?

If you *don't* check that box, all three global:universal variables are DELETED after being read.  There's a real gem that Kaseya needs to get into the documentation.  4.5 years of writing kscripts on and off, and the VSA never ceases to frustrate me.
