Best way to monitor SQL Server Services

  • We have been monitoring our SQL services usinga monitor set where one of the items is a service check for the MSSQLSERVER service. WHile this works well, when we reboot our systems, we always end up with a ticket because the service goes down in the reboot. The result is a lot of false positives.

What is the best way to monitor services so that when our scheduled reboot happens, we don't get a ticket for SQL. We also have this problem with our exchange servers, and our cluster servers, they take sometimes 15 mins to reboot, and we always end up with an offline ticket in CW.

I'm sure this issue has been tackled already, I just can't find any info in the forums.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jeff
