I have a problem with monitoring the performance counters on multiple managed machines. As I assign a monitorset for a machine, which for example monitors the CPU % time or %free space on a drive, I can see the monitorset assigned and some xml files copied to the managed machine. However the counter does not start and is not creating any logs.

As a result I do not have any file in the 'klogs' folder, where normally the counter logs are saved within csv files. In my kserver interface I sometimes see the monitorset as 'not responding' on the 'monitor log' page, but sometimes I do not see any assigned monitorset at all.

does anybody of you have this problem also?

I have already created a ticket with kaseya support, but want to know if you have this problem also.

PowerShell Command to Trigger Alarm

Hi, I'm trying to figure out a way to see if Kaseya can create an alarm for us on Hyper-V based Windows 2012 servers and hyper-v replicas. What i'd like to do is have it run a powershell command, and if it returns any results, log the results and trigger an alarm to send an email.

The command to be run on the servers is:

I have searched for a way to monitor HP proliant server hard drives for disk failures but cannot find a step by step guide to assist with this.

Has anyone set this up already who can assist me?

I do not have KNM, I would like to just use the features Kaseya already has to create an alarm when a drive fails.

Perhaps snmp monitoring would help - I have done a LAN watch with snmp enabled..... but I am not sure what to do from here... any help greatly appreciated.

It works but it also monitors services we don't want to monitor like "MSSQLServerADHelper"

So my question is why MSSQL$* matches to MSSQLServerADHelper?

I have had a couple of requests from customers who wants us to monitor certain application usages, for instance the really expensive Adobe CS suite. They want to know which users are using the applications frequently.
An idea was to let Monitor run a script upon process "up" i.e. Photoshop.exe - and then update some sort of counter.

Does anybody have a procedure for this? I've seen on the Kaseya roadmap that "Software Metering" is coming, but I need a quick-and-dirty fix for this now.

If there is a way to not only count times (and dates) the application was started, but also for HOW LONG they where open - that would be great.
And then somehow get this into a Custom Field or by other means into a report/report part.

Cheers,

If you use the "Create" function to re-use an existing Kaseya Agent account (for instance, if you rebuilt a machine and wanted to preserve the history, so you used Create instead of deleting the pre-rebuild identity and letting it re-create its account once it was rebuilt) any existing System Checks will not work until you re-up them.

To do this is pretty easy - just go into System Check, select the machine, "load parameters" for each one, and hit Apply.

But if you don't do this, they just won't do any actual checking; although in the System Check GUI there's no indication that they aren't working, they will look totally normal, and like they ought to be fine, they just won't actually run, trigger, alarm, etc.

Monitoring System Check - copy to different Agent

I have made some System Checks on 1 machine. We had an SBS Server running KAV that showed an alarm(pop-up) for an infected file, but I did not see an event log entry for the infection. We'd like to be notified automatically when this happens without having to look at the dashboard to find out. Shouldn't it have written an entry to the Application Event Log?
I'm monitoring all ethernet interfaces of a firewall, using the following standard MIB: .iso.org.dod.internet.mgmt.mib-2.interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifOperStatus

The first physical interface is the second instance of returned values ( the first value refers to a loopback interface) so the alert email is not clear when reporting interface details.

Is it possible to "join" returned values of ifOperStatus with, for example, the result of ifDescr query to add the interface description?

The Alarm Operator, for Integer values, can be one ot the following :
Equal
NotEqual
Over
Percent Of
Under

In this case these operators are not useful... is it possible to check, as for String values, for Changes of the returned values ?

If not... is it possible to obtain the enumerated string value, rappresented by the integer value ?

I'm trying to setup a SNMP trap alert monitoring machine with Kaseya to monitor some vmware hosts.

What I don't understand is if it's necessary to load any MIB file on the monitoring machine.

If I'm not wrong MIB files are needed (and loaded as SNMP SETS) when the SNMP agent has to GET (or set) information FROM the snmp device.

But if the device SENDS the trap how is it possibile to configure the monitoring machine to interpret that trap?
Is it possibile to have more detailed info then what logged in the Application event viewer (source KaseyaSNMPTrapHandler) ?

We have recently implemented Connectwise and are having a bit of trouble linking Kaseya and Connectwise as we would like. Previously we had Kaseya generate alerts via email to our previous helpdesk system. Any duplicate alerts or alerts for the same ticket the helpdesk would pickup and deal with. With Connectwise we want to use the two way sync but as Kaseya generates a second alert for a fault and doesn't update its own (internal) ticket ConnectWise logs a second ticket also instead of updating the current ticket it has.

Example:

Server goes offline > Kaseya generates alert and makes a ticket > Connectwise picks this up and logs a support ticket.

Four hours later the alarm is rearmed, Kaseya generates a new alert for server offline > Connectwise picks this up and generates a second ticket.

I can get rid of the duplicate tickets in Kaseya but only by using the servicedesk module which Connectwise can not link to.

Has anyone else come across this or know a way around having these duplicates?

Thanks in advance,

Updates?

Is Monitor -> SNMP Monitoring here to stay or will it be removed from Kaseya at some point? Also, will there ever be updates to it to fix the known bugs?

We use the Monitor -> SNMP Monitoring in Kaseya to check Dell and HP servers, polling Open Manage to check hardware such as drives, RAM, PSU's, fans, etc.

We also implemented a Kaseya Network Monitor server, but there are multiple reasons we don't care to pursue using it.

The Kaseya SNMP monitoring works. There are some bugs, which have to be manually resolved, but it is much more reliable once set up.

Thank you!

Monsets failing to load - unable to locate problem sets

Hi all,

I'm hoping the community can help me sort this out. Recently some changes were made to policies - changes to hard drive monitoring for servers, ticketing replaced emailing for some alerts, some monitoring turned off altogether.

Around that time we started getting a very large number of alarms for monsets failing to load. It's always the same two sets. I hope I can make this simple:

Monset 1- For servers only, is not applied to any clients.

Monset 2 - I have no idea what it's for. That's another part of the question - how can I find it?

I'm seeing alerts for Monset 1 failing to load on client computers. It's not assigned them to them anywhere. The file not found error makes some sense - it's not supposed to be there to begin with. So what I'm trying to figure out is why an unassigned monset is trying to load, and how can I track down the second one? Thanks.

Error message:

FAILED to create THEN step 4, Write File. Error = File not found, Source = C:\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\..\..\UserProfiles\616832...\Monitor\KMON$2632.xml

New version

It is getting to that time again when I need to renew my support. I renewed the past 2 years hoping for the new version that has always been "Coming soon" but have yet to see anything. What is going on? If there isn't anything new on the horizon...meaning by the end of Q1 I really do not see a reason to spend anymore money.
