Alerts - General Question

  • I am experimenting with Alerts. When I set the dropdown on "Define Events to Match or Ignore" to something like "ZC-CM1-E4 Unexpected System Shutdown", does the log type (set alert function "event log" ---> app/system/security/etc) have to be set manually to match the event log type?

In other words, do we have to know that the "unexpected shutdown" event shows up in the system log and then have to set the log type to system?

  • Yes unfortunatly you do. So its possible to build a security event set and then apply it to the Application log. In this case you think that everything is OK and you are monitoring the correct thing, but you wont get any alerts.

It would be much nicer if you could define the set as a Security Log set and it would then apply only to the security logs.

  • Thanks for the reply...

Ok, so is there a Kaseya provided list to let us know which event log the "in the box" alerts should be set against?

Most are obvious, some are not...
