I just noticed that I have a number of agents where the machine name doesn't match the system name. Changing that seems quite clunky -- the screen where you can see them both isn't even a screen where you can change the agent name.
What would be a lot better would be:
a) display both on the agent rename screen
b) provide an option to automatically sysnc them where possible
Is there a better way to do that right now -- say, a script or something?
You can force an agent to have the same name as the Hostname permanently. This is not enabled by default. To switch it on (per group), see System > Naming Policy, and tick 'Force Machine ID to always be Computer Name'.
It would be nice to be able to target machine via a procedure, might be a feature request worthy, let me know if you want to request it and I will back you up.
