Visibility of all ports on a stacked switch

This question is answered

We have three stacked HP Procurve switches, all 48 port.

These are managed from a single IP address. KNM has picked them up at this IP address, but is only indicating ports 1-48 once.

How can we monitor the other ports on the stack?

Thanks.

Phil.

  • Yes, not very elegant, but will probably work

    1. For each member switch, create a new object

    2. set the community name to public@sw1 , public@sw2 and public@sw3 on each of the 3 objects, replace "public" if your read community is something else.

    3. For each object, add the bandwidth monitor.

  • Thats because the community name for Get operations changes depending (appending the switch name) on which member switch in the stack the port is on and the bandwidth monitor have currently no information about that.

  • Thanks RA, is there a work around for this at all?
