Editing Shutdown Script for user intervention

  • I would like to edit a shutdown script to prompt the user to postpone the shutdown for 20 minutes, and after 20 minutes prompt the user again to postpone the script from running. If the user does not respond in 5 minutes to the prompts the scirpt should run.

I am sure that this has been an issue for others, but I am having a hard time finding out how to embed a dialog box into a script.

  • You can setup an IF statement for user responding yes that would look something like this:

    IF User Response is Yes
Parameter 1 : Shutdown in progress, would you like to cancel?
    Parameter 2 : 5
    THEN
    Send Message
    Parameter 1 : Shutdown Canceled
    Parameter 2 : 1
    OS Type : 0
    ELSE
You can put the shutdown command here or tell K to run the shutdown script at this point.

Schedule the shutdown script to run every 20 minutes and skip if off-line.

  • Use the If statement to ask about shutdown.

    If Yes - Shutdown

If No - use the script to reschedule itself again in 20 minutes. That way it will keep prompt them to shutdown until it happens.
