Office 2007 COmpatbility Pack

  • Has anyone figured out a way to script the deployment of the Office 2007 Compatbility Pack (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923505/en-us) through scripts?

We want to do it selently, without interaction from the user, but there doesn't seem to be a 'silent switch.

  • /q seemed to work for me as a silent install on a single test box ... I am investigated further to make sure tho ....

  • I also wanted to install this Pack... How do I make sure that it is only installed on PC's that have Office 2003 and not Office 2007??

  • You would need to look for something unique to either version.

You could use either a registry value or a file in the installed location.

    We use the attached script.

It checks if Office 2003 is installed (by checking the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\wordconv.exe) and if so, the converter will be installed.

    Otherwise, the script ends.
