Powershell

  • Anyone using or considering powershell as a viable alternative to vbscript.

We've pretty much decided we'll do all script development in powershell (unless the situation dictates otherwise).

Just wondering what views anyone else has.

  • powershell is nice, but it still a VERY new language and is in our opinion, not quite ready for prime time.

With that said, we are using it.
Number one problem is that it is still missing a lot of support in the community, it's also not installed on any computer by default. There are different versions for each flavor operating system, and again... it still needs work.

We intend to switch over to powershell, but it will be the end of the 2nd qtr before we start to deploy it in any real way.

When we are satisfied with some of our work, we will post powershell scripts for the community as well.

    Good luck with powershell.

Happy to talk shop if you wish as well.

  • How is powershell working out for you now? Worth the effort?

  • yes its worth the effort, but we are still playing around with it, and have not yet made it an integral part of Kaseya. I am sure we will, since it is going to become the standard.
