Pending move to new diggs

  • New to Kaseya and this is my first post. I've been asked to see if it is possible to setup a distribution/installation to add default printers to all of our machines after we move into a new building. We will be replacing all existing printers with new.

I would think this is an instance where I would need a script to do the dirty work and the distribution from kaseya to push it to the machines. Anyone out there ever atttempted this?

  • I would use the kpacker to accomplish this.

    1. Run kpacker
    2. remove/add printers
    3. run kpacker
    4. distribute resulting file with installation script

  • The packager didn't work for me when I tried it several months ago so we found the following to work. Not sure if you need to stop and start the spooler service but we did just in case.

Script Name: Add 4th Floor Printers Install
Script Description: 4th Floor Printers Install

    IF User Is Logged In
    Parameter 1 :
    THEN
    Execute Shell Command
    Parameter 1 : rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /in /n\\servernameprintershare1
    Parameter 2 : 0
    OS Type : 0
    Execute Shell Command
    Parameter 1 : rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /in /n\\servernameprintershare2
    Parameter 2 : 0
    OS Type : 0
    Pause Script
    Parameter 1 : 10
    OS Type : 0
    Execute Shell Command
Parameter 1 : sc stop spooler
    Parameter 2 : 0
    OS Type : 0
    Execute Shell Command
Parameter 1 : sc start spooler
    Parameter 2 : 0
    OS Type : 0
    ELSE
    Write Script Log Entry
Parameter 1 : User must be logged in!

  • There should be two backslashes in front of the servername instead of one and one in between the servername and printershare. For some reason they don't post right.
