  • There is a hidden proxy settings menu in kaseya.

When you go to the agent tab en point your mouse just under "update agent"
you'll notice the cursor changes to the little hand.

Press the left alt-key and click the mouse.
here you can enter proxy settings for your customer

  • It looks like a feature they just forgot to name on the menu Stick out tongue

In FF with a download manager installed, I can't use the alt-click, as that calls up the download manager. However, what DOES work, when I've got the hand a right-click and "open in new tab" brings it up without any issue.

Have fun with the proxy Stick out tongue

If you've got K2, sorry, can't help you there, we haven't made the change yet.

A question though, is your client's proxy transparent? that is, do all programs HAVE to be configured to use the proxy, or can some applications connect without it and simply get routed through the proxy? (A transparent proxy would be kinda like a feature-rich router with a big cache, you don't see it, but it's there.)

Port and URL can both be changed. Port should, as rwitt stated, be 5721. The URL will be the FQDN of your Kserver.

In most proxy (and other firewall/router cases) the agent won't have any trouble as long as you set the exceptions for the right port and website, and in most scenarios you don't even have to do that. Look in system/server management/configure in earlier versions of Kaseya, the second "group" from the bottom of that frame you'll see fields that allow you to change the url and port number. These are what you need to allow in your firewall settings, and most likely are what you're missing. I doubt the options have wandered too far in K2.

The default port, as rwitt mentioned, is TCP 5721. The URL will be the same as the one you use to connect to Kaseya as an administrator from outside the office (if your firewall allows that), or the server's WAN IP (you can visit www.whatsmyip.org from the server to find this out real quick, beware of dynamic IP, try to use the FQDN if at all possible).

  • Hey guys

Have been through this before, the proxy settings inside Kaseya are only for patch & file source downloads. The actual agent still connects directly over port 5721 regardless of what you put in the kaseya proxy settings

  • Agent needs direct communication with kserver on the port 5721.

To download the patches you can configure the proxy for the agent by using the below URL in K2.

    http:///AgentTab/setProxyFrame.asp

Note : Hidden link is disabled in K2.

  • IIRC you also need to modify the WinHTTP proxy settings, so that the patch scan service can connect out via the proxy.

Otherwise you'll only get the legacy patch scan which doesn't provide nearly as good patch detection.

  • In K2, if you go to the agent status page, there is a hidden link between the select columns... button and the filter... button that launches the proxy screen.
