Windows 7 show as Windows Vista machines

  • Whats the deal with this issue.

    When I install my Kaseya Agents onto my Windows 7 RTM boxes, they are displaying as Windows Vista boxes on the kaseya server.

    Any way to fix this?

    It seems to be identified properly for me in the Kaseya 6 RC. Considering Windows 7 is not shipping yet (I believe I saw MS sent an official email stating January 2010) I do not know if we will need to hotfix support in for the current Kaseya release yet.

    If you need to easily identify Windows 7 now, I just created the following view might be useful:

  • Just tested that now. Works well. Also pointed out one of my scripts that is failing on win 7 machines!

  • Windows 7 was has been released to TechNet and Action Pack subscribers already. We are running Win7 on some of our systems. It would be great to see this added as an OS in Kaseya to make testing easier.

    Click on the "Edit" button - that will bring up the screen you are looking for - edit the parameters and save the view as Windows 7

    see attached

  • From a brief read of what's new in Windows & it looks like MS are promising some new tools that overlap with Kaseya offerings...for example the User State management, thoughts?

  • Hi mc,

    in the Kaseya UI upper quarter blue bar:

    You can coose the machine Group and VIEW; just click edit and you will be able to see the window as described above;

    Hope that was what you are after.

  • err VLK customers have access to it now. It's a viable real non beta OS being deployed by real customers. So I would think a quick patch to Kaseya would fix the problem. Waiting till 6 isnt cool. It has a seperate category in Patch Management already.
