Patch rollback

  • Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding patch approval, denial, and rollback.

If a patch is approved, and later found to be a cause of trouble, if you go in and change it's status to deny, will it automatically uninstall from all machines on which it was installed?

If not, do you have to go machine by machine and schedule a rollback?

    Thanks!

  • The patch will not be uninstalled when it is denied in your approval policy, you will have to use the rollback to get it off the system. Approval policy only dictates which patches are visible when you go to patch a particular PC.

  • I didn't create a new thread because I think this follows the question.

If many machines have this "bad" patch, how can I do a mass rollback?

  • I think you'll have to create a script to remove it. The RollBack option in patching is only for a specific machine.

I'd run it on one machine and have a look at the script created by Kaseya and duplicate that.

  • Doug,

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I don't plan to do mass rollbacks, I don't think anyone does. I had an issue come up yesterday with a patch that sneaked through the filters and was installed on 80% of my PCs. I caused issues with performance, and I decided to remove it.

I ended up writing a quick script that did the trick.
