Active Connections Through the Roof

  • I recently had an issue where all of my agents dropped off of the grid. It was fixed by restarting the KServer service. The event logs did not contain any events indicating that there was a failure.

When I checked the Kserver log I saw a lot of this.
    Sun Feb 10 09:52:02 2008: 0 new connections, 2224 active, in the last 10 sec. Message queue lengths = 1, 1.
    Sun Feb 10 09:52:12 2008: 1 new connections, 2225 active, in the last 10 sec. Message queue lengths = 1, 1.
    Sun Feb 10 09:52:22 2008: 0 new connections, 2225 active, in the last 10 sec. Message queue lengths = 1, 1.
Sun Feb 10 09:52:30 2008: Warning: call did not return any result data: Failed to insert status of the script Run Process Alarms (ID = 221) which was run on *.kserver.
Sun Feb 10 09:52:30 2008: Warning: call did not return any result data: Failed to insert status of the script Run Email Notify (ID = 140) which was run on *.kserver.
Sun Feb 10 09:52:30 2008: Warning: call did not return any result data: Failed to insert status of the script Process Auto/Init Patch Updates (ID = 225) which was run on *.kserver.

One thing that I found interesting about the log was the number of active connections. Typically there is ussually about 160 at any given time. Before we restarted the service the total had climbed to well over 3000.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Is there any way to prevent it in the future?
