Working on a service desk I have found that the front end interface for the service desk module is somewhat slow and takes maybe 2 minutes to log a ticket.

For front line call logging this is too slow so I have developed an application in c# using a combination of direct database access, for reading certain data from the database more efficiently than the web front end, and the API, for actually logging tickets as we don't want to write directly to the db and risk breaking things.

This has dramatically reduced logging time from maybe a few minutes a call to only 20 seconds or so. 

I am interested to know if anyone else out there has tried this and what experiences you have ad with doing this.
