In KNM version 4.1 you could create a dependency monitor within a template.
In case of an alert you only receive an message for this monitor and not from the depended monitors.

Is this still possible in KNM version 5.0?

Depends.....normally I'd say a big NO, since a NAS is typically just another file share on the network, and therefore doesn't need anything special; however you might want to look into a NAS that offers SNMP monitoring, should you want to do things like receive alerts on space, fans, temperature etc. that that NAS may be able to offer you monitoring on, since you can't run a full K agent on a NAS.

Typically, either QNAP or Synology are the way to go at the soho end of the scale, or look at a 'real' SAN e.g. Dell Equilogic, HP 2000 etc. a the high end...everyone has their favourite brand however and therefore you should do your own homework before choosing one that best suits you.

err....@Ray, that is a pretty basic task every syadmin faces.

Robocopy can copy files and folders whilst retaining the original datestamps.

robocopy /copy:T to keep file timestamps

robocopy /dcopy:T to keep folder timestamps.

obviously use both parameters to keep both file and folder timestamps. If copying to a Linux based NAS or share, also use /FFT to ensure compatibility.

I went through the upgrade process which reported successful. However I cant login to any part of Kaseya now, getting ODBC errors on the login page, and a number of Kaseya services wont start. Have opened a ticket, so hope its fixed today! I can roll back to a server image from yesterday if required but trying to avoid that path. Phoned NZ main number but its going straight to voicemail.

Yeah, it sure does work. I just did some tests. And in fact, it is even smart enough that it recognizes which files are different and need a full or incremental backup versus which files are exactly the same. This is important because it enables the following scenario:

Setup KDB Private Storage on a server with a fixed or removeable drive at a customer site.

Run backups from any/all systems on that network to the private storage location.

Take a COPY of the private storage location folders on a USB drive to our data center to seed our backup server.

Keep backups running locally on the onsite private storage location so that there are still up-to-date backups at all times.

Then once our backup server in our data center has been seeded, we simply point the backups to the new private storage location using our data center server.

It will run through the whole backup (it displays as though it is backing up all the files again but it just runs through them really fast if they haven't changed). Any files that are different since the COPY was made will be backed up again. All other files will simply be checked and not backed up again.

The folder structure is quite simple. In the Private Storage location, it creates one top level folder with a long numerical name. I believe this is a unique ID specific to the VSA. So every private storage location that we setup from our VSA creates the same top level folder. Underneath that folder are a set of folders, each one representing a single agent system that is backing up there. These folders are named with the GUID of the agent that was backed up. Simply moving one or more of these folders to a new private storage location is all that is needed to seed the backup in a new location.

I don't know why Kaseya doesn't explain this simple process.

Do they not realize that their product is fully capable of seed backups right now?

I have noticed that on both KES 2.2 and 2.3, AVG 9 will still fail out the scan:

This is a different result that what the OP is getting, which based on the logs I can presume that they are running AVG 2012 on KES 2.3.

Hey guys,

I am running CHKDSK /F's on all of the machines I manage, but I have a hard time reviewing the reports.

After CHKDSK runs, it makes an event log entry in Windows 7, under the Wininit Source, and an Event ID of 1001.

What is the quickest way for me to pull this data from multiple machines?

But doesn't Echo %Date% output the result as "Fri 17/05/2013"

I'm pretty sure Datediff needs the date to be in the format as just "17/05/2013" ie without the 'Fri" at the start

Barth .. one special note with regard to managing the GPO for the WUAgent configuration. The GPO sets registry values, but merely removing the GPO will not remove those registry values. What you'll actually need to do is configure the GPO with the opposite value and refresh group policy to disable the WUAgent. Specifically you'll want to set two policies: Specify intranet update service location should be DISABLED and Configure Automatic Updates should be DISABLED. The former will unmake the system as a WSUS client; the latter will disable the AU functionality completely.

ANSWER

In order to manage the Kaseya Portal Users for your Kaseya Portal account, you need to have the Manager or Administrator role.

You can create and manage your organisation's users in the Kaseya Customer Portal (go to Kaseya Portal>My Account>My Portal Users)

Below is an explanation of the three Roles that are available for you to assign to your users within the Kaseya Customer Portal:

User:

Access to: Inbox, Create new tickets & View own tickets, Resources (Documentation, Knowledge etc), Direct access to Forums and Knowledge Base and Change Logon etc

Manager:

Same as User plus ‘My Portal Users’

Administrator:

Same as Manager plus ‘Credit Cards’, ‘Online Backup’, ‘Contract Summary’& ‘Account Aging’ Reports.

My Portal Users: Add, Edit, Delete, Enable, Disable and reset passwords for Users

Credit Cards: Add, Edit & Delete Credit Cards

Online Backup: Enable Cloud Storage for Kaseya Data Backup

Contract Summary: View Your Contract Summary

Account Aging: View Your Account Aging

I am finding that I can identify machines without KES by looking for missing application KASAVSRV.exe

I am making this number more accurate by running a latest audit on machines so that Kaseya recognizes KES was installed.

Latest audits should run automatically after installing KES. I cannot make this happen because I cannot make a latest audit a post-install procedure.

Kaseya should recognize when its own products are installed. I shouldn't have to do something manually to make that happen.

I just wanted to post a follow up to confirm this issue is resolved. I have been able to install AVG without issue on several 2012 servers with Exchange installed.
