Modifying the KAV1.3 endpoint UI

QUESTION

How do I modify the KAV 1.3 Endpoint UI?

ANSWER

All of the graphics for the UI as displayed on the endpoint are available in:

  • For File Server
    .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\FileServer\Skin\images\
  • For Workstation
    .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\Workstation\Skin\images

These can be modified on the KServer for updated deployment. Already deployed endpoints can be updated to a modified UI by running a “Verify” installation from the KAV module on the KServer.

One of the more common files to update is the kv8.png, which contains the phrase “Kaseya Antivirus Powered By Kaspersky” that shows in the upper left corner of the primary UI window.

To remove references to “Kaseya Antivirus” in the UI Window Title, Task Tray, etc., open:

  • .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\KAVSkin\loc\en\main.loc

  • For File Server
    .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\FileServer\Skin\en\main.loc
  • For Workstation
    .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\Workstation\Skin\en\main.loc

Search for the “common enums”, replace “Kaseya Antivirus” with your choice of titles.

The Task Tray Icons are stored in:

  • For File Server
    .Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\FileServer\Skin\images\tray
  • For Workstation
    .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\Workstation\Skin\images\tray

MORE INFORMATION

Please note this article does NOT apply to the Cloud-based version of the Kaseya Antivirus (KAV) module. At this point it is not possible to rebrand or modify the KAV endpoint UI on Kaseya Cloud products.

APPLIES TO

  • Correction to the above: kv8.png is actually called kav8.png

  • Any word on whether or not this procedure is still available or has changed at all with the release of KAV 1.4?

  • Just to add to this...

The customizations work the same with KAV 1.4.  I'm not sure if installing the update would overwrite customizations done in 1.3 though.

There's also an icon in the upper left corner of Kaspersky that you can customize.  The file for that is called "main_on16.png" and it's located in the following folders:

        .Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\FileServer\Skin\images\

        .\Kaseya\WebPages\ManagedFiles\VSAHiddenFiles\kav\Installers\Workstation\Skin\images\
